日本ソムリエ協会小飼名誉会長 追悼の辞
社団法人日本ソムリエ協会名誉会長小飼一至氏のご急逝の報に接し、謹んでお悔やみ申し上げます。
小飼名誉会長は、1988年国際ソムリエコンクールにて日本人では初の第3位入賞を果たし、また、日本ソムリエ協会の会長のみならず、世界ソムリエ協会の会長も務められるなど、日本のワイン業界を大きく牽引されました。
世界各国に広がる弊社取扱ワイナリーからも、続々と追悼の辞が寄せられております。
また個人的にも1998年南米チリ・アルゼンチンにてワイナリー巡りをご一緒させて戴いて以来、今日に至るまで色々な場面でご指導・御鞭撻を戴いたことは感謝の一言では言い切れないものがあります。これからもどこかから小飼スマイルでニコニコと我々を見守ってくれることと思います。
故人の輝かしいご功績とそのご人望の厚さを偲び、深く哀悼の意を表します。合掌

Mr. Kogai’s disappearance is a shock to all those who were favored to meet him.
On various occasions I personally or my colleagues at Joseph Drouhin were impressed by his deep knowledge and passion. He was a wonderful ambassador and his memory will remain as an example for the younger generation he contributed to educate.

We have just learned of the sad death of Mr. Kogai. We cannot express the sadness we feel at this time.
We remember Mr. Kogai as kind and generous man, who was always sharing his love and passion for wines. He will be sadly missed by ASI and all the people who were fortunate of knowing him.
We know that words can give little consolation to relieve grief but we should like you to know that we too will be grieving for him.

I had the honor and the pleasure to know Mr. Kogai, sharing wine and food with him during some of my visits to Japan. I was very sorry to hear about his passing away. I had the greatest respect for him and all what he did for the wine industry in Japan. We will miss working with him.

Your news of Mr Kogai's sudden passing is indeed unexpected, and Caroline would like to send the family of Mr Kogai her deepest heartfelt condolences.
Mr Kogai was looked up to as a master of his craft by so many and his gracious passion for fine wine was extraordinary.
The sommelier and wine community in Japan has lost a true champion but it is heartening to know that his legacy will continue to live on through those whom he has so passionately mentored.
It was a privilege to have had known Mr Kogai, and we share in the grief of his friends and family.

I have met Mr Kogai a few years ago when one of the first Sommeliers Competition was organized in China. He made a big contribution for the Japanese Sommelier profession and to the ASI as well and was highly appreciated.
He will definitely be remembered by all as a great leader in the wine industry.

I just learnt that Kogai san passed away yesterday and this is a very very sad information for all of us.
The world wine industry lost one of his very best prominent figure, the JSA lost one of his builder, Prince lost one of his best server/loyal employee, Marrenon lost his best Ambassador in Japan (he was a great lover of the Marrenon wines and philosophy for ever) and I personally lost an long long time friend (more than 20 years of friendship and mutual respect).
For all of us it is a big lost to lose a so nice, humble and knowledgeable man.
I am very sad and all the Marrenon Team (including Kogai’s san friends like our President M Piton and our Director M. Tolleret) join me to send you and Mrs Kogai our more sincere condolences.
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the funerals but for sure I will be with him and you by thinking.
I wish him to "Enjoy the Wine of the Eternal Life in the Paradise".

小飼さんの訃報に接し、我々も悲しみにたえません。
ワイン業界は最も重要な人物の一人を、ＪＳＡ(日本ソムリエ協会)は偉大な功労者を、プリンスホテルは重要な逸材を、マレノンは日本における最高のパートナー(彼はマレノンのワインとその哲学を愛して下さいました。)を亡くし、また私も個人的に20年来の付き合いのある、大事な友人を亡くしました。
彼を知る全ての人にとって、あれほど人に優しく、謙虚で、知識にあふれた男を失ったということは、大きな喪失となります。
深い悲しみの中で、小飼さんと交友関係にあった社長のPitonや、ディレクターのTolleret、そしてマレノンスタッフ一同より、心よりお悔やみを申し上げます。
残念ながら、葬儀に出席することはできませんが、心は常に彼を想っております。
小飼さんが、天国にて永遠の命のワインを楽しまれることを心から願っております。

It is very sad and brutal news. Mr Kogaï was a legend in our world in Japan, he has always shown a great support for our cognacs and was active in making Japan the first country in the world in terms of sommelier.
